2026-01-14vdso: Remove struct getcpu_cacheThomas Weißschuh
The cache parameter of getcpu() is useless nowadays for various reasons. * It is never passed by userspace for either the vDSO or syscalls. * It is never used by the kernel. * It could not be made to work on the current vDSO architecture. * The structure definition is not part of the UAPI headers. * vdso_getcpu() is superseded by restartable sequences in any case. Remove the struct and its header. As a side-effect this gets rid of an unwanted inclusion of the linux/ header namespace from vDSO code. 2025-11-27selftests: complete kselftest include centralizationBala-Vignesh-Reddy
This follow-up patch completes centralization of kselftest.h and ksefltest_harness.h includes in remaining seltests files, replacing all relative paths with a non-relative paths using shared -I include path in lib.mk Tested with gcc-13.3 and clang-18.1, and cross-compiled successfully on riscv, arm64, x86_64 and powerpc arch. 2024-08-30selftests: vDSO: fix the way vDSO functions are called for powerpcChristophe Leroy
vdso_test_correctness test fails on powerpc: ~ # ./vdso_test_correctness ... [RUN] Testing clock_gettime for clock CLOCK_REALTIME_ALARM (8)... [FAIL] No such clock, but __vdso_clock_gettime returned 22 [RUN] Testing clock_gettime for clock CLOCK_BOOTTIME_ALARM (9)... [FAIL] No such clock, but __vdso_clock_gettime returned 22 [RUN] Testing clock_gettime for clock invalid (2147483647)... [FAIL] No such clock, but __vdso_clock_gettime returned 22 On powerpc, a call to a VDSO function is not an ordinary C function call. Unlike several architectures which returns a negative error code in case of an error, powerpc sets CR[SO] and returns the error code as a positive value. Define and use a macro called VDSO_CALL() which takes a pointer to the function to call, the number of arguments and the arguments. Also update ABI vdso documentation to reflect this subtlety. Provide a specific version of VDSO_CALL() for powerpc that negates the error code on return when CR[SO] is set. 2024-05-05selftests/vDSO: fix runtime errors on LoongArchTiezhu Yang
It could not find __vdso_getcpu and __vdso_gettimeofday when test getcpu and gettimeofday on LoongArch. # make headers && cd tools/testing/selftests/vDSO && make # ./vdso_test_getcpu Could not find __vdso_getcpu # ./vdso_test_gettimeofday Could not find __vdso_gettimeofday One simple way is to add LoongArch case to define version and name, just like commit d942f231afc0 ("selftests/vDSO: Add riscv getcpu & gettimeofday test"), but it is not the best way. Since each architecture has already defined names and versions in vdso_config.h, it is proper to include vdso_config.h to get version and name for all archs. 2020-05-22selftests: vdso: Add a selftest for vDSO getcpu()Mark Brown
Provide a very basic selftest for getcpu() which similarly to our existing test for gettimeofday() looks up the function in the vDSO and prints the results it gets if the function exists and succeeds.
