Parsing of incoming messages is implemented through the strparser API. Note that ovpn redefines sk_prot and sk_socket->ops for the TCP socket used to communicate with the peer. For this reason it needs to access inet6_stream_ops, which is declared as extern in the IPv6 module, but it is not fully exported. Therefore this patch is also adding EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL(inet6_stream_ops) to net/ipv6/af_inet6.c. To use, Userspace sets an XFRM_NAT_KEEPALIVE_INTERVAL integer property when creating XFRM outbound states which denotes the number of seconds between keepalive messages. Keepalive messages are sent from a per net delayed work which iterates over the xfrm states. The logic is guarded by the xfrm state spinlock due to the xfrm state walk iterator. Possible future enhancements: - Adding counters to keep track of sent keepalives. - deduplicate NAT keepalives between states sharing the same nat keepalive parameters. - provisioning hardware offloads for devices capable of implementing this. - revise xfrm state list to use an rcu list in order to avoid running this under spinlock. The sk_peek_off field location is problematic, as most protocols want it in the RX read area, while UDP wants it on a cacheline different from sk_receive_queue. Create a local (inside udp_sock) copy of the 'peek offset is enabled' flag and place it inside the same cacheline of reader_queue. Check such flag before reading sk_peek_off. This will save potential false sharing and cache misses in the fast-path. Tested under UDP flood with small packets. While not important for AF_INET or AF_INET6, the sockaddr length is important when working with AF_UNIX sockaddrs as the size of the sockaddr cannot be determined just from the address family or the sockaddr's contents. __cgroup_bpf_run_filter_sock_addr() is modified to take the uaddrlen as an input/output argument. After running the program, the modified sockaddr length is stored in the uaddrlen pointer. For example, the following snippet can be used to derive the desired source IP address: struct bpf_fib_lookup p = { .ipv4_dst = ip4->daddr }; ret = bpf_skb_fib_lookup(skb, p, sizeof(p), BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_SRC | BPF_FIB_LOOKUP_SKIP_NEIGH); if (ret != BPF_FIB_LKUP_RET_SUCCESS) return TC_ACT_SHOT; /* the p.ipv4_src now contains the source address */ The inability to derive the proper source address may cause malfunctions in BPF-based dataplanes for hosts containing netdevs with more than one routable IP address or for multi-homed hosts. For example, Cilium implements packet masquerading in BPF. If an egressing netdev to which the Cilium's BPF prog is attached has multiple IP addresses, then only one [hardcoded] IP address can be used for masquerading. This breaks connectivity if any other IP address should have been selected instead, for example, when a public and private addresses are attached to the same egress interface. The change was tested with Cilium [1]. Nikolay Aleksandrov helped to figure out the IPv6 addr selection. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> 2023-07-24ipv6: remove hard coded limitation on ipv6_pinfoEric Dumazet IPv6 inet sockets are supposed to have a "struct ipv6_pinfo" field at the end of their definition, so that inet6_sk_generic() can derive from socket size the offset of the "struct ipv6_pinfo". This is very fragile, and prevents adding bigger alignment in sockets, because inet6_sk_generic() does not work if the compiler adds padding after the ipv6_pinfo component. We are currently working on a patch series to reorganize TCP structures for better data locality and found issues similar to the one fixed in commit f5d547676ca0 ("tcp: fix tcp_inet6_sk() for 32bit kernels") Alternative would be to force an alignment on "struct ipv6_pinfo", greater or equal to __alignof__(any ipv6 sock) to ensure there is no padding. This does not look great. v2: fix typo in mptcp_proto_v6_init() (Paolo) Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <edumazet@google.com> Cc: Chao Wu <wwchao@google.com> Cc: Wei Wang <weiwan@google.com> Cc: Coco Li <lixiaoyan@google.com> Cc: YiFei Zhu <zhuyifei@google.com> Reviewed-by: Simon Horman <simon.horman@corigine.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Usually doing get_user()/put_user() directly in the ioctl callback. This is not flexible, because it is hard to reuse these functions without passing userspace buffers. Change the "struct proto" ioctls to avoid touching userspace memory and operate on kernel buffers, i.e., all protocol's ioctl callbacks is adapted to operate on a kernel memory other than on userspace (so, no more {put,get}_user() and friends being called in the ioctl callback). This changes the "struct proto" ioctl format in the following way: int (*ioctl)(struct sock *sk, int cmd, - unsigned long arg); + int *karg); (Important to say that this patch does not touch the "struct proto_ops" protocols) So, the "karg" argument, which is passed to the ioctl callback, is a pointer allocated to kernel space memory (inside a function wrapper). This buffer (karg) may contain input argument (copied from userspace in a prep function) and it might return a value/buffer, which is copied back to userspace if necessary. There is not one-size-fits-all format (that is I am using 'may' above), but basically, there are three type of ioctls: 1) Do not read from userspace, returns a result to userspace 2) Read an input parameter from userspace, and does not return anything to userspace 3) Read an input from userspace, and return a buffer to userspace. The default case (1) (where no input parameter is given, and an "int" is returned to userspace) encompasses more than 90% of the cases, but there are two other exceptions. Here is a list of exceptions: * Protocol RAW: * cmd = SIOCGETVIFCNT: * input and output = struct sioc_vif_req * cmd = SIOCGETSGCNT * input and output = struct sioc_sg_req * Explanation: for the SIOCGETVIFCNT case, userspace passes the input argument, which is struct sioc_vif_req. Then the callback populates the struct, which is copied back to userspace. * Protocol RAW6: * cmd = SIOCGETMIFCNT_IN6 * input and output = struct sioc_mif_req6 * cmd = SIOCGETSGCNT_IN6 * input and output = struct sioc_sg_req6 * Protocol PHONET: * cmd == SIOCPNADDRESOURCE | SIOCPNDELRESOURCE * input int (4 bytes) * Nothing is copied back to userspace. For the exception cases, functions sock_sk_ioctl_inout() will copy the userspace input, and copy it back to kernel space. The wrapper that prepare the buffer and put the buffer back to user is sk_ioctl(), so, instead of calling sk->sk_prot->ioctl(), the callee now calls sk_ioctl(), which will handle all cases.
