2026-04-02drm/amd/display: Wire up dcn10_dio_construct() for all pre-DCN401 generationsIonut Nechita
Description: - Commit b82f0759346617b2 ("drm/amd/display: Migrate DIO registers access from hwseq to dio component") moved DIO_MEM_PWR_CTRL register access behind the new dio abstraction layer but only created the dio object for DCN 4.01. On all other generations (DCN 10/20/21/201/30/301/302/303/ 31/314/315/316/32/321/35/351/36), the dio pointer is NULL, causing the register write to be silently skipped. This results in AFMT HDMI memory not being powered on during init_hw, which can cause HDMI audio failures and display issues on affected hardware including Renoir/Cezanne (DCN 2.1) APUs that use dcn10_init_hw. Call dcn10_dio_construct() in each older DCN generation's resource.c to create the dio object, following the same pattern as DCN 4.01. This ensures the dio pointer is non-NULL and the mem_pwr_ctrl callback works through the dio abstraction for all DCN generations. 2026-03-17drm/amd/display: Wrap dcn32_override_min_req_memclk() in DC_FP_{START, END}Xi Ruoyao
[Why] The dcn32_override_min_req_memclk function is in dcn32_fpu.c, which is compiled with CC_FLAGS_FPU into FP instructions. So when we call it we must use DC_FP_{START,END} to save and restore the FP context, and prepare the FP unit on architectures like LoongArch where the FP unit isn't always on. 2026-02-21Convert more 'alloc_obj' cases to default GFP_KERNEL argumentsLinus Torvalds
This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next line. Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial. So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed' scripts. The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want whitespace cleanup anyway. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2026-02-21Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argumentLinus Torvalds
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' | xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/' to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL argument to just drop that argument. Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered: they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically. For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate conversion. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2026-02-21treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar typesKees Cook
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <kees@kernel.org>

2026-02-12drm/amd/display: Fix out-of-bounds stream encoder index v3Srinivasan Shanmugam
eng_id can be negative and that stream_enc_regs[] can be indexed out of bounds. eng_id is used directly as an index into stream_enc_regs[], which has only 5 entries. When eng_id is 5 (ENGINE_ID_DIGF) or negative, this can access memory past the end of the array. Add a bounds check using ARRAY_SIZE() before using eng_id as an index. The unsigned cast also rejects negative values. This avoids out-of-bounds access. Fixes the below smatch error: dcn*_resource.c: stream_encoder_create() may index stream_enc_regs[eng_id] out of bounds (size 5). drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/resource/dcn351/dcn351_resource.c 1246 static struct stream_encoder *dcn35_stream_encoder_create( 1247 enum engine_id eng_id, 1248 struct dc_context *ctx) 1249 { ... 1255 1256 /* Mapping of VPG, AFMT, DME register blocks to DIO block instance */ 1257 if (eng_id <= ENGINE_ID_DIGF) { ENGINE_ID_DIGF is 5. should <= be <? 2025-11-04drm/amd/display: Revert DCN4 max buffered cursor size to 64Dillon Varone
[Why & How] The buffered cursor cap is expressed assuming a square cursor, and usage of the cursor buffer is limited by the request size. For greater than 32 pixels, the request size is fixed at 256 bytes, so the maximum width must be floored to the nearest 256th byte. At 4bpp this means even with 24kB DCN4 can only hold a 64x64 cursor in the buffer as even 65 pixels would require 512 bytes per line instead of 256. 2024-10-15drm/amd/display: Add hpd_source index out-of-bounds check for dcn3x link ↵Srinivasan Shanmugam
encoder creation This patch adds a boundary check for the hpd_source index during the link encoder creation process for dcn3x IP's. The check ensures that the index is within the valid range of the link_enc_hpd_regs array to prevent out-of-bounds access. 2024-10-01drm/amd/display: Wait for all pending cleared before full updateAlvin Lee
[Description] Before every full update we must wait for all pending updates to be cleared - this is particularly important for minimal transitions because if we don't wait for pending cleared, it will be as if there was no minimal transition at all. In OTG we must read 3 different status registers for pending cleared, one specifically for OTG updates, one specifically for OPTC updates, and the last for surface related updates. 2024-07-27drm/amd/display: Fix possible overflow in integer multiplicationAlex Hung
[WHAT & HOW] Integer multiplies integer may overflow in context that expects an expression of unsigned long long (64 bits). This can be fixed by casting integer to unsigned long long to force 64 bits results. This fixes 2 OVERFLOW_BEFORE_WIDEN issues reported by Coverity. 2024-07-23drm/amd/display: Add null check for head_pipe in ↵Srinivasan Shanmugam
dcn32_acquire_idle_pipe_for_head_pipe_in_layer This commit addresses a potential null pointer dereference issue in the `dcn32_acquire_idle_pipe_for_head_pipe_in_layer` function. The issue could occur when `head_pipe` is null. The fix adds a check to ensure `head_pipe` is not null before asserting it. If `head_pipe` is null, the function returns NULL to prevent a potential null pointer dereference.
