2026-01-10drm/amd/display: Bump the HDMI clock to 340MHzMario Limonciello
[Why] DP-HDMI dongles can execeed bandwidth requirements on high resolution monitors. This can lead to pruning the high resolution modes. HDMI 1.3 bumped the clock to 340MHz, but display code never matched it. [How] Set default to (DVI) 165MHz. Once HDMI display is identified update to 340MHz. 2025-10-28drm/amd/display: Use DAC load detection on analog connectors (v2)Timur Kristóf
This feature is useful for analog connections without EDID: - Really old monitors with a VGA connector - Cheap DVI/VGA adapters that don't connect DDC pins When a connection is established through DAC load detection, the driver is supposed to fill in the supported modes for the display, which we already do in amdgpu_dm_connector_get_modes. Also, because the load detection causes visible glitches, do not attempt to poll the connector again after it was detected this way. Note that it will still be polled after sleep/resume or when force is enabled, which is okay. v2: Add dc_connection_dac_load connection type. Properly release sink when no display is connected. Don't print error when EDID isn't read from an analog display. 2025-10-28drm/amd/display: Add analog link detection (v2)Timur Kristóf
Analog displays typically have a DDC connection which can be used by the GPU to read EDID. This commit adds the capability to probe analog displays using DDC, reading the EDID header and deciding whether the analog link is connected based on the data that was read. Note that VGA has no HPD (hotplug detection), so we need to to do analog link detection for VGA before checking HPD. In case of DVI-I, while the connector supports HPD, not all analog cables connect the HPD pins, so we can't rely on HPD either. For reference, see the legacy display code: amdgpu_connector_vga_detect amdgpu_display_ddc_probe DAC load detection will be implemented in a separate commit. v2: Fix crash / black screen on newer GPUs during link detection. Ignore HPD pin for analog connectors. 2025-09-15drm/amd/display: Fix DVI-D/HDMI adaptersTimur Kristóf
When the EDID has the HDMI bit, we should simply select the HDMI signal type even on DVI ports. For reference see, the legacy amdgpu display code: amdgpu_atombios_encoder_get_encoder_mode which selects ATOM_ENCODER_MODE_HDMI for the same case. This commit fixes DVI connectors to work with DVI-D/HDMI adapters so that they can now produce output over these connectors for HDMI monitors with higher bandwidth modes. With this change, even HDMI audio works through DVI. [WHY] eDP 2.0 is introducing support for UHBR link rates, however current eDP ILR link optimization does not account for UHBR capabilities. Either UHBR capabilities will be provided via the same 128b/132b rate DPCD caps that are currently used on DP2.1, or Table 4-13 may be updated to include UHBR rates. [HOW] Add extra Supported Link Rates table translations for UHBR10/13.5/20. Update eDP link setting optimization search to be aware of 128b/132b DPCD rate caps in order to unblock UHBR on panels with Supported Link Rates table. [Why] Remove the brightness cache in DC. It uses a single value to represent the brightness for both SDR and HDR mode. This leads to flash in HDR on/off. It also unconditionally programs brightness as in HDR mode. This may introduce garbage on SDR mode in miniLED panel. 2023-09-26drm/amd/display: switch DC over to the new DRM logging macrosHamza Mahfooz
For multi-GPU systems it is difficult to tell which GPU a particular message is being printed for and that is undesirable because it complicates debugging efforts. Also, the new macros allow us to enable logging for particular parts of the codebase more selectively (since we no longer need to throw everything at DRM_DEBUG_KMS()). So, for the reasons outlined above we should switch to the new macros. We can accomplish this by using the existing DC_LOGGER code to pass around the relevant `struct drm_device` which will be fed to the new macros in logger_types.h. Also, we must get rid of all instances of the DC_LOG_.*() functions that are currently in amdgpu_dm since we don't use the DC logger there and we can simply refer to the macros directly there instead. [Why] In USB4 DP tunneling, it's possible to have this scenario that the path becomes unavailable and CM tears down the path a little bit late. So, in this case, the HPD is high but fails to read any DPCD register. That causes the link connection type to be set to sst. And not all sinks are removed behind the MST branch. [How] Restore the link connection type if it fails to read DPCD register. [Why & How] All dc subcomponents should call another dc component via function pointers stored in a component structure. This is part of dc coding convention since the beginning. The reason behind this is to improve encapsulation and polymorphism. The function contract is extracted into a single link service structure defined in link.h header file and implemented only in link_factory.c instead of spreading across multiple files in link component file structure.
