2025-08-29mips: Replace __ASSEMBLY__ with __ASSEMBLER__ in the mips headersThomas Huth
While the GCC and Clang compilers already define __ASSEMBLER__ automatically when compiling assembler code, __ASSEMBLY__ is a macro that only gets defined by the Makefiles in the kernel. Defining such a macro was necessary in the early days of the kernel, since GCC only started providing __ASSEMBLER__ since version 3.0 in 2000 (see https://gcc.gnu.org/git/?p=gcc.git;a=commitdiff;h=f8f769ea4e69 ). However, having two macros can be very confusing nowadays for the developers when switching between userspace and kernelspace coding, or when dealing with uapi headers that should use __ASSEMBLER__ instead. So let's now standardize on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by the compilers. This is almost a completely mechanical patch (done with a simple "sed -i" statement), with just one comment tweaked manually in arch/mips/include/asm/cpu.h (that was missing some underscores). 2020-04-16MIPS: Fix typo for user_ld macro definitionbibo mao
There is typo for macro user_ld if __ASSEMBLY__ is declared, this patch fixes this issue. Signed-off-by: bibo mao <maobibo@loongson.cn> Signed-off-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de>
2018-10-15MIPS: Add kernel_pref & user_pref helpersPaul Burton
Add kernel_pref & user_pref macros to asm/asm-eva.h, providing an abstraction around EVA & non-EVA pref instructions consistent with the existing macros we have for cache & load/store instructions. 2015-04-10MIPS: asm: asm-eva: Introduce kernel load/store variantsMarkos Chandras
Introduce new macros for kernel load/store variants which will be used to perform regular kernel space load/store operations in EVA mode. 2014-03-26MIPS: asm: Add wrappers for EVA/non-EVA instructionsMarkos Chandras
EVA uses specific instructions for accessing user memory. Instead of polluting the kernel with numerous #ifdef CONFIG_EVA we add wrappers for all the instructions that need special handling when EVA is enabled. Signed-off-by: Markos Chandras <markos.chandras@imgtec.com>
