2024-05-03dt-bindings: clock: fixed: Define a preferred node nameRob Herring (Arm)
Define "clock-<freq>" as the preferred node name for fixed-clock and fixed-factor-clock where <freq> is the output frequency of the clock. There isn't much of an existing pattern for names of these nodes. The most frequent patterns are a prefix or suffix of "clk", but there's a bunch that don't follow any sort of pattern. We could use "clock-controller-.*", but these nodes aren't really a controller in any way. So let's at least align with part of that and use 'clock-'. For now this only serves as documentation as the schema still allows anything to avoid lots of additional warnings for something low priority to fix. Once a "no deprecated" mode is added to the tools, warnings can be enabled selectively. 2022-12-16dt-bindings: drop redundant part of title (beginning)Krzysztof Kozlowski
The Devicetree bindings document does not have to say in the title that it is a "Devicetree binding", but instead just describe the hardware. Drop beginning "Devicetree bindings" in various forms: find Documentation/devicetree/bindings/ -type f -name '*.yaml' \ -exec sed -i -e 's/^title: [dD]evice[ -]\?[tT]ree [bB]indings\? for \([tT]he \)\?\(.*\)$/title: \u\2/' {} \; find Documentation/devicetree/bindings/ -type f -name '*.yaml' \ -exec sed -i -e 's/^title: [bB]indings\? for \([tT]he \)\?\(.*\)$/title: \u\2/' {} \; find Documentation/devicetree/bindings/ -type f -name '*.yaml' \ -exec sed -i -e 's/^title: [dD][tT] [bB]indings\? for \([tT]he \)\?\(.*\)$/title: \u\2/' {} \; Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzysztof.kozlowski@linaro.org> Acked-by: Alexandre Belloni <alexandre.belloni@bootlin.com> Reviewed-by: Jonathan Cameron <Jonathan.Cameron@huawei.com> Acked-by: Ulf Hansson <ulf.hansson@linaro.org> # MMC Acked-by: Stephen Boyd <sboyd@kernel.org> # clk Acked-by: Dmitry Torokhov <dmitry.torokhov@gmail.com> # input Acked-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org> Acked-by: Sebastian Reichel <sre@kernel.org> # power Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20221216163815.522628-8-krzysztof.kozlowski@linaro.org Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org>
2022-06-09dt-bindings: clock: fixed-factor: Drop Allwinner A10 compatibleSamuel Holland
This compatible is part of the legacy sunxi clock support, and has not been used since commit 6b48644b1d29 ("ARM: gr8: Convert to CCU") in October 2016. Now that the code for this compatible has been removed, let's drop the compatible. 2020-05-03dt-bindings: Remove cases of 'allOf' containing a '$ref'Rob Herring
json-schema versions draft7 and earlier have a weird behavior in that any keywords combined with a '$ref' are ignored (silently). The correct form was to put a '$ref' under an 'allOf'. This behavior is now changed in the 2019-09 json-schema spec and '$ref' can be mixed with other keywords. The json-schema library doesn't yet support this, but the tooling now does a fixup for this and either way works. This has been a constant source of review comments, so let's change this treewide so everyone copies the simpler syntax. Scripted with ruamel.yaml with some manual fixups. Some minor whitespace changes from the script.
