Add a script to visualize the kernel boot process / time
When optimizing the kernel boot time, it's very valuable to visualize what is going on at which time. In addition, with some of the initializing going asynchronous soon, it's valuable to track/print which worker thread is executing the initialization. This patch adds a script to turn a dmesg into a SVG graph (that can be shown with tools such as InkScape, Gimp or Firefox) and a small change to the initcall code to print the PID of the thread calling the initcall (so that the script can work out the parallelism). mentation clearly shows that the documents there are written at different times: some use markdown, some use their own peculiar logic to split sections. Convert everything to ReST without affecting too much the author's style and avoiding adding uneeded markups. The conversion is actually: - add blank lines and identation in order to identify paragraphs; - fix tables markups; - add some lists markups; - mark literal blocks; - adjust title markups. At its new index.rst, let's add a :orphan: while this is not linked to the main index.rst file, in order to avoid build warnings.
