Recent iOS releases support CDC NCM encapsulation on RX. This mode is
the default on macOS and Windows. In this mode, an iOS device may include
one or more Ethernet frames inside a single URB.

Freshly booted iOS devices start in legacy mode, but are put into
NCM mode by the official Apple driver. When reconnecting such a device
from a macOS/Windows machine to a Linux host, the device stays in
NCM mode, making it unusable with the legacy ipheth driver code.

To correctly support such a device, the driver has to either support
the NCM mode too, or put the device back into legacy mode.

To match the behaviour of the macOS/Windows driver, and since there
is no documented control command to revert to legacy mode, implement
NCM support. The device is attempted to be put into NCM mode by default,
and falls back to legacy mode if the attempt fails.

The behaviour of the official iOS tethering driver on macOS is to not
transmit any trailing padding at the end of URBs. This is applicable
to both NCM and legacy modes, including older devices.

Adapt the driver to not include trailing padding in TX URBs, matching
the behaviour of the official macOS driver.

The cleanup precedure in ipheth_probe will attempt to free a
NULL pointer in dev-&gt;ctrl_buf if the memory allocation for
this buffer is not successful. While kfree ignores NULL pointers,
and the existing code is safe, it is a better design to rearrange
the goto labels and avoid this.

When rx_buf is allocated we need to account for IPHETH_IP_ALIGN,
which reduces the usable size by 2 bytes. Otherwise we have 1512
bytes usable instead of 1514, and if we receive more than 1512
bytes, ipheth_rcvbulk_callback is called with status -EOVERFLOW,
after which the driver malfunctiones and all communication stops.

Resolves ipheth 2-1:4.2: ipheth_rcvbulk_callback: urb status: -75

strcpy() performs no bounds checking on the destination buffer. This
could result in linear overflows beyond the end of the buffer, leading
to all kinds of misbehaviors. The safe replacement is strscpy().

Starting with iOS 14 released in September 2020, connectivity using the
personal hotspot USB tethering function of iOS devices is broken.

Communication between the host and the device (for example ICMP traffic
or DNS resolution using the DNS service running in the device itself)
works fine, but communication to endpoints further away doesn't work.

Investigation on the matter shows that no UDP and ICMP traffic from the
tethered host is reaching the Internet at all. For TCP traffic there are
exchanges between tethered host and server but packets are modified in
transit leading to impossible communication.

After some trials Matti Vuorela discovered that reducing the URB buffer
size by two bytes restored the previous behavior. While a better
solution might exist to fix the issue, since the protocol is not
publicly documented and considering the small size of the fix, let's do
that.

The method ndo_start_xmit() is defined as returning an 'netdev_tx_t',
which is a typedef for an enum type, but the implementation in this
driver returns an 'int'.

Fix this by returning 'netdev_tx_t' in this driver too.

<title>usbnet: ipheth: fix racing condition</title>

Fix a racing condition in ipheth.c that can lead to slow performance.

Bug: In ipheth_tx(), netif_wake_queue() may be called on the callback
ipheth_sndbulk_callback(), _before_ netif_stop_queue() is called.
When this happens, the queue is stopped longer than it needs to be,
thus reducing network performance.

Fix: Move netif_stop_queue() in front of usb_submit_urb(). Now the order
is always correct. In case, usb_submit_urb() fails, the queue is woken up
again as callback will not fire.

Testing: This racing condition is usually not noticeable, as it has to
occur very frequently to slowdown the network. The callback from the USB
is usually triggered slow enough, so the situation does not appear.
However, on a Ubuntu Linux on VMWare Workstation, running on Windows 10,
the we loose the race quite often and the following speedup can be noticed:

Without this patch: Download: 4.10 Mbit/s, Upload: 4.01 Mbit/s
With this patch: Download: 36.23 Mbit/s, Upload: 17.61 Mbit/s
